Eco Schools
Our school is proud to be part of the Eco Schools programme, a nationally recognised initiative that promotes environmental responsibility across the curriculum and beyond. In order to embed sustainability in a meaningful and enduring way, we have created a curriculum designed to involve sustainability at every stage of school life. This approach ensures that pupils do not simply learn about environmental issues in theory, but actively engage with them through thoughtful, practical action.
The Eco Schools programme provides a seven-step framework that guides our work and helps us to plan, monitor and evaluate our progress. This structured model enables us to build a culture of environmental awareness, shared responsibility and continuous improvement. It also empowers children to make a difference not only within school, but in their wider community, encouraging them to become informed and responsible citizens.
This year, we have focused on three key themes in order to make a positive difference: biodiversity and wildlife, recycling and reusing, and energy. These themes have prompted young people to consider the environmental changes they can make in their school and in their everyday lives. Through discussion, enquiry and practical action, pupils have explored how small, consistent choices can have a significant impact.
By developing environmental understanding and encouraging active participation, our Eco Schools work supports pupils in becoming confident advocates for a more sustainable future.
