Starting School

Hello everyone! My name is Mrs Horton and I am the headteacher of Abbey Infants School. I am really looking forward to meeting you all and welcoming you to the Abbey School Community. We will be adding lots of photos and other information to this page so keep checking back to find out more. If you have any questions please give us a call or send us an email. Our friendly staff are here to help.

Hello!  I am Miss Boulstridge and I am the Deputy Head and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) at Abbey Infant School.  I can’t wait to meet you all.

At our school we aim to meet the needs of all children.  The school works hard to support all the children and each child’s progress is regularly reviewed.  We like to involve parents with all aspects of their child’s learning.  If your child already has some extra support at their nursery or you think your child might need some extra help when they start school then please give me a call.  We can put things in place to ensure your child has a happy, supported and positive start to their school career.

Proposed Induction Dates July 2020

As I'm sure you can appreciate the induction process this year has been adapted to meet the Governments guidelines.

Tuesday 7th July - induction meetings via video link

If you have not yet received an email for this please contact the school office. This will be to go through what happens when your child starts school and to answer any questions that you may have.

Tuesday 21st July - visits to Reception classrooms

Please phone the school office to arrange a time for your visit. Times have been allocated to ensure social distancing can be maintained. This is an opportunity for you and your child to look around the environment and meet the staff.

Proposed Induction Dates September 2020

Following the latest Government guidelines we have updated our Induction plan to incorporate the necessary requirements.

Final arrangements will be given out on the 21st July as part of your visit to school.  Parents/Carers who are unable to attend will have their Induction letters emailed to them.  The letter will confirm which class your child will be in and if they are morning or afternoon during the part time timetable.

Wednesday 2nd September - Friday 4th September - Virtual Home Visits

Home visits this year will be carried out through video links.  These are an important part of the Induction as it provides an opportunity for a personal chat with you, your child and the class teacher and teaching assistant.

Please telephone the school office to arrange a time.  An invitation via email will then be sent in September.
